Toronto, Canada – June 16th, 2011 – Pocketglow today announced the immediate availability of the SpeakEasy suite of travel apps for Windows Phone 7. With over 24,000 copies sold on iPhone, these popular travel audio-phrasebooks are now available for Windows Phone 7 users.

“It’s more convenient to carry your phone than a heavy travel phrasebook,” said Benjamin McDowell, Pocketglow Founder. “And because your phone can also play audio, our SpeakEasy travel audio-phrasebooks make a perfect companion when abroad. Better still, our apps do not require an internet connection and are human translated, not machine translated.”

SpeakEasy travel audio-phrasebooks contain essential travel phrases translated from English into foreign languages. Each translation is accompanied by an audio recording of a native speaker, and an easy-to-read phonetic translation. The travel phrases cover useful topics such as meeting people, eating out, transportation, sightseeing, shopping and many more.

SpeakEasy travel audio-phrasebooks are available in French, Russian and Ukrainian. Additional languages are planned for the future.

SpeakEasy French, SpeakEasy Russian and SpeakEasy Ukrainian are available today on the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace for US$3.99 each. Free trial versions are also available, featuring a sample of the phrases. SpeakEasy French, SpeakEasy Russian and SpeakEasy Ukrainian are also available for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.

Toronto, Canada – June 6th, 2011 – Harmonica, the musical instrument app that works with your lips, received a minor update today. Consisting of tweaks and fixes, this update makes the innovative lip-based app almost indistinguishable from the previous version.

“This update will excite absolutely nobody,” said Benjamin McDowell, Harmonica’s creator. “Sure, it’s still funny when someone puts their iPhone in their mouth, but bug fixes? This update barely warrants a press release.”

The Harmonica app simulates a real diatonic harmonica. The iPhone’s touch screen can be triggered by the user’s lips, and the physical dimensions of the iPhone are similar to that of a real harmonica, further extending the illusion.

Harmonica is available as a universal iPhone/iPad app on the App Store for just US$0.99.

The time had well and truly come for the old Pocketglow website to be replaced. There were a few reasons for this:

The old hand-coded site was hard to maintain. As a result, it wasn’t maintained at all.

The content needed reorganizing so I could actually acknowledge the existence of my Mac OS X, Android and Windows Phone 7 apps.

I wanted an easy-to-update blog, and an area to post Press Releases.

This new site is built on WordPress, and uses a lightly-customized version of the Tesla theme by HighThemes. I expect the design to change slowly over time, but this is a good enough start.
